Melbourne-based services provider, S Central, has appointed Chris Troiani as national practice manager for its newly established virtualisation division.
He will be responsible for business development, establishing a go-to market strategy and sales and marketing concepts.
"I've been appointed mainly because of the massive spike in interest in virtualisation, which offers cost and environmental benefits to users," Troiani said. S Central had previously done some work in virtualisation through its acquisition of AGM IT in December, he said. "That company was very heavily focused on virtualisation, while the concept of it was something new to S Central," Troiani said.
He would initially focus on the company's relationship with VMware and make sure staff are fully certified across its Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane branches.
"Before this we had a quite reactionary approach to virtualisation. If somebody needed it, then we had the resources for it, but now we are taking a proactive approach on a national scale," Troiani said.
He anticipated virtualisation would be a strong growth area for S Central and said he planned to hire more staff. "VMware is the main driver in that space and most vendors like IBM and HP are adopting this practice. It's the way that I see the industry going," he said.
Prior to joining S Central, Troiani worked on the solutions design team at Technical Architecture Solutions. He has also worked for Synergy Plus in its IBM x-series virtualisation team.
