Acer adds new retail partner

Acer has added a new retail partner, Retravision, to its reseller lineup. The vendor will sell laptops, desktops and handheld PCs through more than 500 Retravision stores nationwide. “Acer has experienced over 200 per cent growth in the retail sector for the first quarter 2004 and we believe that our nationwide partnership with Retravision stores will help to strengthen our presence in this area,” Acer channel manager, Greg Mikaelian, said. Retravision had seen strong growth in its IT category, CEO, Keith Perkin, said. “This new relationship will enable us to drive the category harder together,” he said.

Growth in Asia-Pacific key to Dell targets

Dell executives have targeted international markets including Asia-Pacific to continue its rapid growth as the company closes in on its goal of $US60 billion in revenue. Dell was experiencing faster growth in Asia-Pacific and Japan (AJP) than in any other region of the world, senior vice-president for AJP, Bill Amelio, said. AJP now represented 10 per cent of Dell’s overall revenue. Dell set a goal in 2002 of doubling its revenue to $US60 billion over a period of just a few years. The company has aggressively entered consumer markets in EMEA and AJP to help spur that growth, and now has improved revenue in EMEA by 23 per cent over last year and improved AJP revenue by 25 per cent compared to fiscal 2003. Dell had taken market share from HP over the last year, and believes it can continue to take share with its emphasis on its direct model, senior vice-president for Dell’s business in EMEA, Paul Bell, said.
