Sage Business Solutions partners are set for increased training and benefits following the appointment of Kieran O'Shaughnessy as partner sales manager.
Reporting to Sage Business Solutions' managing director, Mike Lorge, he has been briefed to revamp the vendor's A/NZ partner program.
"I've been really impressed with the quality of the channel's experience and expertise across all of our software, notably CRM and ERP," O'Shaughnessy said. "Now I want to cement that by providing some business enhancement to partners."
This would include training and giving partners assistance to become more effective and efficient, O'Shaughnessy said.
"I'm looking at tapping into some of the programs Sage runs over in North America," he said. "They recently ran a five-day consulting academy course, for example, which was focused on best industry practices."
O'Shaughnessy said consulting methodologies was probably one of the skills the local channel could most benefit from further training in.
With 160 local partners already, recruiting resellers wasn't the most pressing order of business, but O'Shaughnessy said he was not adverse to adding new blood where there was a strategic fit.
"A big part of what I'll be looking to do with the channel is make them aware who Sage is," he said. "At the end of the day we have 5 million customers and a $US2.5 billion turnover, but I'm not sure it's widely known in the local channel community."
A channel veteran, O'Shaughnessy has more than 13 years experience in the industry. Most recently, he spent seven years as SCO's A/NZ regional director.
