ARN interviews GL Computing Manager Mike Lazarus.
MY FAVOURITE BOOK OR MOVIE ...I like movies where the story and acting are the driving forces, rather than those that make up for poor writing with special effects, or poor acting with looks. Regarding books, I get drawn to the works from writers such as Tolkien, Lewis Carroll, Douglas Adams or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
IF I COULD GO ANYWHERE ...Since seeing Easy Rider many long years ago, I've always wanted to ride a Harley across the US, culminating in New Orleans for the Jazz and Heritage Festival, where I'd stock up on whisky and listen to buskers in the French Quarter.
IF I WASN'T DOING THIS JOB ...I spent some time working in the music industry and would probably be managing creative artists. Really creative people can blur the line between genius and insanity - this is an effect I fi nd inspirational. Most of my friends fit in this category.
THE PERSON I MOST ADMIRE ...is Billy Thorpe - his incredible talent and passion was oddly matched by the feeling he gave of not understanding the adulation of his fans. He told me once he thought of himself as a singer and not that good a guitarist, then proceeded to play a solo very few could match.
I REALLY HATE ...When I was young, I had a teacher who explained that love and hate are two sides of the same coin - the real opposite of love is indifference. I guess what I dislike most is prejudice, especially people who get aggressive when you question their belief on a subject (political, religious, technology, etc) in order to better understand it.
