McAfee Monday pledged a renewed focus on the small-and-midsize business market, where the security firm said it's beefing up its product line and sales support.
McAfee introduced its Security Internet Gateway 3000, a low-end model of its e-mail and Web security appliance to support a maximum 200 users. McAfee also said it has set up an SMB product marketing and sales support division with a staff of 150 to focus on this business segment.
"We think the [SMB] market is defined as less than 1,000 employees," said Darrell Rodenbaugh, McAfee's senior vice president for the global midmarket. "McAfee's strategy is investment in personnel and products custom-built for the enterprise of this size."
The Internet Security Gateway Model 3000 appliance, which includes McAfee's SiteAdvisor software to block access to malicious Web sites, costs US$2,400 for fewer than 200 users.
