Lenovo ThinkPad R61/T61

Lenovo has launched two new widescreen ThinkPads: the R61 14-inch (with the first ever R-Series widescreen) and the T61 14-inch notebook. A key design element is the new Top Cover Roll Cage, which is 20 per cent stronger than the previous magnesium case, Lenovo claims. The honeycomb designed cage cushions and reinforces the LCD, helping to reduce stress on the display structure and antenna. Coupled with the 'airbag like' sensor of Lenovo's Active Protection System and a shock-mounted hard drive, this provides enhanced reliability and durability. Other features include an improved thermal management cooling and efficiency system; enhanced wireless connectivity with Ultra Connect II; and longer battery life through the Battery Stretch control option. The notebooks are based on the latest Intel Centrino Pro mobile and Intel Centrino Duo technology. Connectivity options include WWAN (on select T61 models), WLAN with 802.11n technology, gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth and modem.
