Emerson Network Power Australia Appoints Ricon Executives

 • 27 June, 2007 15:24

Emerson Network Power Australia, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, has added Richard Wixon and Steve Ververis, former directors of computer racking specialist Ricon, to its ranks. Wixon assumes the title of Business Development Manager - Racks and Integrated Cabinet Solutions, and Ververis becomes Operations Manager – Racks.

Wixon and Ververis have a combined 50 years’ of experience in 19-inch rack and cabinet design, installation and support. In the mid-1980s the pair founded Ricon as a representative of the premium grade German racking manufacturer Knurr, growing the company to become a leading supplier of the latest 19-inch network enclosures, cabinets, cubicles and racks, covering the LAN, WAN, data networking, electronic, electrical, information technology and telecommunications industries.

Emerson acquired Sydney-based Ricon in May, having acquired rack maker Knurr in a global deal in 2006. Ricon was the sole distributor of Knurr products in Australia and New Zealand for the past 16 years.

“There have been many changes to the expectations of cabinet users over the years, and more than ever, cooling and power play a big part not only in the cabinet design and structure but in the total solutions package expected by today’s ICT professionals,” says Wixon. “Emerson’s global acquisition of Knurr has meant our products are now well positioned to climb up the value ladder for customers running business-critical applications in the data centre.”

David Scott, Managing Director, Emerson Network Power Australia, says Wixon and Ververis have been instrumental in setting up a quality assembly team that is now able to offer the broadest range of high-quality racks and cabinets to complement Emerson’s Liebert-branded power protection and precision cooling systems.

“The advantage we offer our customers is not only limited to the quality of our products but also the expertise and experience of our personnel on the ground,” says Scott. “In keeping with this tradition we’ve appointed the best minds in the business when it comes to quality racking for the data centre, and I look forward to working with Richard and Steve to continue building on the excellent foundation they’ve established in Australia with Ricon.”
