With the effects of climate change and global warming becoming more prevalent, Planet Ark is urging volunteers to grab their best shovel and get behind National Tree Day on July 27. Last year, more than 300,000 volunteers planted 1.6 million native trees and shrubs at 3600 sites around the country.
Planting trees and shrubs can help combat the effects of climate change by providing food and shelter for wildlife species.
A single tree is capable of absorbing one tonne of carbon in its lifetime.
