Looking to accelerate its local market penetration, WAN optimisation vendor, Expand Networks, has signed on Uptime Distribution as a second distributor.
The value-added distributor will sit alongside NSW-based itX. Uptime managing director, Tony Geagea, said Expand's network infrastructure range was a perfect fit with its existing unified communications and networking line-up including IP communications player, Mitel.
"It was a no-brainer for us - it's a solid product and fits our business model," he said. "The way we have built up our business, as well as the resources we have on-board, means we can hit the ground running and help Expand grow much faster through our channel partners."
Expand's products are designed to optimise applications and related services running across an organisation's network. Geagea said the products tied in well with Uptime's existing resellers.
"Many of these guys are working on multi-sites or have customers that are operating in regional territories where bandwidth is limited or congested. This gives them the smarts on the network," he said.
Uptime's model is based around providing a suite of services and technical expertise to resellers. Geagea said it would offer these across the full Expand product line. Capabilities available to resellers include end-user lead generation, pre-sale consulting and advice, onsite training and demonstrations, 24/7 support, a dedicated tender response team, and demo facilities.
Expand vice-president for Asia-Pacific, Steve O'Brien, said it had been looking for a way of ramping up local growth.
"We also needed someone with the right skills for our products, which Uptime offers," he said. "This new deal doesn't affect our existing distributors. Uptime is prepared to invest in the whole lifecycle, including pre-sales, proposals, marketing and training."
O'Brien said he was now working on introducing Expand's official channel program across Asia-Pacific.
