Brisbane-based networking distributor, inTechnology, has secured a deal to carry the Colubris Networks range of Wi-Fi access products.
inTechnology director of sales and marketing, Mark Winter, said the vendor fitted a profile it had been searching for.
"inTechnology has been looking at wireless hardware technology for a number of years and hadn't really found the right fit for our organisation," he said. "We had been watching Colubris for a few years and it's basically from the telco carrier space - where we've also done a lot of work - and want to take that technology into the enterprise space."
Colubris A/NZ sales director, Ross Chiswell, said the vendor had been looking for a distributor which understood the networking industry and was looking forward to growing its market presence in Australia with inTechnology.
Winter claimed a major selling point for the Colubris range was that it could simplify Wi-Fi access for both permanent and temporary network users.
"Colubris solves a problem that the channel hasn't known what to do with in the Wi-Fi space - guest users," he said. "Colubris had a visitor management tool that a receptionist can use to provision wireless access to visitors without bugging the IT department every time someone is in the office for a day or two."
inTechnology's experience with Juniper hardware was also a major factor behind the deal. Winter said Colubris would complete a solution for partners with a number of complementary products shared between the two companies.
The distributor planned to put together Colubris MultiService Controllers and Juniper Wireless security and Network Access Control (NAC) bundles in the months ahead, he said.
Colubris and Juniper Networks will also embark on joint webinars and training for local resellers to promote the interoperability of their hardware.
