Storage tape vendor, Tandberg Data, has taken the wraps off a parts warehouse and associated support services in Brisbane.
The location will be run by IT service organisation, Computergate Australia. The warehouse is the vendor's fourth in Australia. It also retains warehouses and services for Tandberg in NSW, VIC and WA.
"We hadn't concentrated on Queensland before and now it's our fastest growing market in Australia," Tandberg sales manager, Georg Schlueter, said. "And it's not just Brisbane - we're sending product into Rockhampton, Cairns and other regional areas, too."
The Computergate-run warehouse would ensure parts and personnel were on the ground in Queensland, ready to diagnose and fix issues with Tandberg hardware, he said. The vendor has around $US200,000-worth of spare parts spread across the four locations, he said.
While the deal doesn't rule out other resellers from seeking to carve-out their own service level agreements with customers, Tandberg Data managing director, Raymond Kang, said most were happy to leave the warranty work to Computergate.
Currently sold by about 100 local resellers, Schlueter said Tandberg Data would also be looking to grow its ranks in the year ahead.
"I could appoint one reseller who brings in 15 great pieces of business or 15 resellers who bring in nothing," he said. "It really is about quality over quantity for us."
