Software Briefs: Quick To Market, SonicWall

Quick To Market via channel-only

Melbourne-based Taten is moving to a channel-only strategy for its new content management system — Quick To Market. Previously, the e-business development company sold the tool direct to test the product itself and the market. Taten, who will act as its own distributor, is seeking 20 resellers nationally by June, claiming six are about to sign up. Resellers for the $1560 product could include computer stores, systems integrators, ISPs and even accounting firms servicing the SME market. Taten CEO, Jeff Lim, claimed his product was different to others in being easy to use, fully scalable, and offering online payment and newsletters. His company would also offer resellers expert help, co-branded advertising, training and support services, plus discounts on software and licensing. Lim credits online banking as driving sales.

ACA Pacific joins SonicWall

Security vendor, SonicWall, has added Melbourne-based ACA Pacific to its distribution channel. ACA Pacific will distribute and market all SonicWall products including firewalls, VPN, content filtering and virus protection. The distributor claims to be market leader in distributing storage management technology and document imaging products in Australia and is expanding its security portfolio. The signing comes after a period of instability in the SonicWall distribution channel, which saw the vendor pare its channel down to Lan 1 and Dovetail last year. But as neither distributor has fulfillment facilities in Victoria, the prospect of signing up Melbourne-based ACA Pacific had attracted SonicWall, the vendor’s Australian sales manager, Tim Dickinson, said. SonicWall’s channel development efforts, which kicked off earlier this year, saw 12 Medallion partners signed and trained up, he said. In addition, about 20 resellers had participated in global management training as part of the vendor’s push for managed security services.
