IDC Finds Opportunities in an Era of Disruption

<p>NORTH SYDNEY, 3rd May 2007 – IDC will host its flag ship event, Directions 2007 on Friday 4th May 2007 at the Westin Hotel, Sydney. In its twenty seventh year of operation, the Directions 2007 Event will once again bring together key players from the IT&amp;T industry in an exciting format.</p>
<p>Almost every aspect of our industry is in the throes of innovation and disruption. Globalisation, convergence, mobility, service-oriented architecture, Dynamic IT, Web 2.0, compliance - are all conspiring to change the industry landscape rapidly. Yet every period of upheaval and disruption is also a period of unique opportunity.</p>
<p>At Directions 2007, attendees will be introduced to IDC Australia’s new Associate VP of Research, Mr Tim Dillon. Tim comes to IDC with 15 years of professional experience, out of which 14 years were dedicated to research. He is responsible for managing and coordinating the company’s Australian research teams and operations.</p>
<p>Tim will focus on working with Senior IT executives from Australia’s leading IT&amp;T organisations across consulting projects, research and analysis areas such as; Telecoms, Software and Services. Tim will present at this years Directions event, on "Australia’s ICT Scene – Exploiting Disruption and Seizing Opportunities" and will also facilitate one of the most popular session’s of the day, the Managing Directors panel.</p>
<p>At this Industry event attendees will hear from leading IDC Analysts including; Bob Welch, IDCs Group VP, Global Services, Catherin Bennett, IDCs CIO Research Director and Jens Butler, Associate Director Benchmarking Australia.</p>
<p>In his presentation Mr Welch will discuss Adding Growth to the Global Services Agenda, and new Challenges to the Services Business Models. Bob will present IDC views on the Global Services marketplace, and how providers of all sizes are facing a set of disruptive trends that are driving investments, offerings and contracts in a way and at a pace that is accelerating.</p>
