Distributor strikes a new deal with Zultys for its range of IP systems

Westan has struck a deal with VoIP communications vendor, Zultys, to take on its range of IP telephony and unified communications products.

The distributor's director of business communications, Patrick Micallef, said it had not previously offered an IP PBX hardware system.

"We've been investigating such a product for the past nine months and when the opportunity came along, it was a good fit," he said. "We found a lot of our partners were already Zultys trained and some were selling it. We identified a good market segment, functional capabilities and the passion our resellers had for the product."

Micallef said the Zultys range would fit in well with its software-based IP PABX unified management platform. He hoped the new range would add an extra 10 per cent to Westan's bottom line.

The distributor will be targeting system integrators and partners who previously dabbled with legacy equipment but now wanted to obtain an IP solution. "We can now provide them with an alternative vendor when they go to their customers," Micallef said. "We will also be complementing our product portfolio with other networking equipment to help resellers have access to any other elements they need to deploy a complete solution."

Westan joins ChannelWorx and Anixter in Zultys' distribution ranks. Its regional director, Martin Trigg, said the vendor wanted to expand its market reach.

"I was aware Westan had a communications division, which goes well with the support aspect we always like to have with distributors," he said. "They can assist resellers with pre- and post-sales support."
