SYDNEY Wednesday May 9 -- Idera, a leading provider of management, administration, security and compliance solutions for Microsoft SQL Server, today announced the launch of SQLsecure v1.2, a proactive, automated security monitoring, analysis, and reporting solution designed specifically for Microsoft SQL Server enterprises. SQLsecure enables organizations to rapidly identify users with inappropriate access rights and permissions, eliminate security holes and weaknesses and monitor changes in access rights to ensure compliance with internal and external security audit standards.

The release of SQLsecure extends Idera's SQL Server compliance and auditing solution suite to include SQL Server security analysis. Other products in the suite include:

-- SQL compliance manager -- providing real-time auditing, alerting, and continuous compliance for SQL Server environments.
-- SQLconfig -- providing SQL Server configuration management, monitoring and reporting.

The addition of SQLsecure enables companies to analyse and monitor their SQL Server security settings enabling easy identification and remediation of weaknesses including, inappropriate permissions assignments, inappropriate membership in powerful groups and orphaned or inactive user accounts. Together these products act synergistically to streamline SQL Server auditing, compliance and security management enabling Database Administrators to more easily meet internal and external audit demands, security standards, and regulatory requirements.

"Establishing and ensuring effective database security is an extremely complicated and time-consuming task," said Rick Pleczko, president and CEO of Idera. "As SQL Server plays an ever more vital role supporting mission critical applications, and as the requirements to meet internal and external security audit standards increase, it is impossible for DBAs to handle this task without automated support. SQLsecure provides a powerful, cost-effective solution to help companies define and deploy the right security model and to monitor and ensure its integrity on an ongoing basis."

Key Features and Benefits Of SQLsecure Include:

Powerful Security Model Analyses -- provides the ability to gather a complete picture of the SQL Server security environment and settings along with powerful tools for analysis and reporting. This enables rapid review and audit of all SQL Server access controls, security related properties, and integrated Windows security across computer, network, and Active Directory settings. Analyses available include:

-- Effective User Permissions -- For a given user discover all assigned and effective rights and permissions at the server, database and object level.
-- Users and Groups -- Drill up or down on users and groups. From a group see the list of users or groups and select for further analysis. From a user see the group memberships and drill upwards to review the inherited permissions.
-- Object Access Rights -- Browse and analyse the full SQL Server object tree from server level down to object level (tables, views, roles, endpoints etc.). Instantly view assigned and effective/inherited permissions and security-related properties at any object level.

Continuous change monitoring -- provides the ability to capture snapshots of the security model on a regularly scheduled or ad-hoc basis in order to identify changes to access rights and permissions and security settings. This enables rapid review and audit of all SQL Server access controls, security related properties, and integrated Windows security settings across computers, networks, and Active Directory.

Comprehensive Security and Entitlement reporting -- Designed in partnership with IT security professionals and major auditing firms SQLsecure's reports are designed to meet the needs of security auditors to ensure that the audit process is affected quickly and easily with the least amount of overhead and distraction.

Pricing and Availability

SQLsecure 1.2 can be downloaded and trialled for 14 days and is priced at AU$1,490 per SQL Server instance. For more information please visit:
