Trend Micro's SMB director, Dave Patnaik, has swapped vendors and accepted a regional position with rival security company, McAfee.
Patnaik had been with the security software vendor for two years and finished on July 10. He was responsible for managing Trend Micro's SMB business and product set and related channel programs.
"I had a great time with Trend for the last two years. We've managed the business successfully and grown and pushed it to the next stage where we've taken market share from competitors," he said. "Having done that, it was time for me to take on a bigger role where I can use my understanding and experience of various countries and look into different markets."
Patnaik starts his new role as McAfee's general manager of mid-market for Asia-Pacific and Japan on July 16. He will be based out of Sydney.
Prior to joining Trend, he was regional director of South East Asia for Netgear and worked as a software manager at Tech Pacific.
Trend Micro SMB marketing manager, Marie Evans, said it was looking for a replacement.
