LevelOne Network Switch Moves Up to Layer 3

 • 27 April, 2007 15:23

Network administrators these days struggle to keep up with increasing demands on network size, bandwidth, and security. Networks that are already established and those in the planning stages can now easily address this quest for higher volume data and networking speed by deploying LevelOne Layer 3 and Layer 2 switches.

Digital Data Communication introduces the LevelOne GSW-2495 Layer 3 stackable switch to provide a well-rounded solution for enterprise networking applications.

The GSW-2495 has 24 copper Gigabit ports and 4 combo SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable fibre) ports to provide flexibility for interoperating between your copper and fibre optic network. For easy network expansion the GSW-2495 allows up to 8 units to be stacked within the same network, and be configured through a single interface.

This switch works with advanced routing protocols including Routing Information Protocol (RIP and RIP2), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Port Mirroring, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) and advanced Class of Service (CoS). It also features traffic management options including 802.1x, 802.3x flow control/backpressure, bandwidth control and IGMP v1/v2 Snooping.

The GSW-2495 supports spanning tree protocol (STP) for standard bridging in order to increase network reliability. Extra bandwidth can be provided by grouping of multiple ports together.

This switch provides access control methods including Port Security, SSL for web management encryption, RADIUS and TACACS+ clients for user authentication and SSH protocol. The network can be partitioned into 256 active VLANs with 802.1Q Tagging.

The combination of copper and fiber optic connections, high security and easy management, as well as high-speed throughput makes LevelOne GSW-2495 the cost effective solution to be deployed for large networks.
