Intel channel partners now have access to Red Hat Linux, following a deal signed between the two vendors.
The Global Channel Acceleration Program gives both Premier and Associate members of Intel's channel program free access to pre-certified Linux solutions to implement across SMBs through to large enterprises. Red Hat Asia-Pacific vice-president, Gus Robertson, said the two vendors wanted to come together and create a program that enabled Intel channel partners to offer Linux across a range of segments.
"We see the Linux and open source market growing significantly in Asia and Australia," he said. "The adoption is now reaching from the enterprise into the mid-tier and SME markets, where whitebox vendors are strong."
Robertson said these organisations wanted the same benefits enterprise customers had experienced through their adoption of open source technology. Using pre-certified solutions would both cut down the time involved in time to market, as well as eliminating certification costs, he said.
"This will provide the solutions that whitebox resellers need to provide a certified solution similar to the global OEMs such as IBM, HP and Dell," he said.
