ISPhone begins $2 million network upgrade

Inks funding agreement with Cisco

Wholesale VoIP provider, ISPhone Australasia Pty Limited, has just completed stage one of a three month, $2 million network upgrade covering its existing IP and voice infrastructure.

It also includes the addition of an Adelaide Point of Presence (POP).

In the first phase of the project the ISP rolled out routers, switches and other equipment to the value of $250,000.

Through a funding agreement with Cisco Capital, ISPhone expects to spend a total of $2 million on Cisco hardware and services providing the company with a full national footprint.

ISPhone chief technology officer James Spenceley, said the upgrade should reach completion in three months.

"Having Cisco supporting the continued development of our telecommunications network enables us to offer a full range of services to complement and enhance our carrier grade VoIP solution," Spenceley said.

"Our goal is to be the wholesale VoIP carrier of choice for ISPs, VoIP providers and corporates. By partnering with Cisco for our national network we can leverage their leadership in the IP and voice marketplace, leading to better solutions and a superior grade of network for our customers."

Founded in May 2005, ISPhone Australasia is a privately-owned Australian company that sells wholesale VoIP solutions to the ISPs, system integrators, and other IT consultants and resellers that serve the Australian SME market.
