Systems integrator opens up testing facility to speed up VoIP implementations

Systems integrator, GlobalConnect Australia, has opened the doors on a new laboratory staging facility that allows customers to test IP-based telephony applications and infrastructure before installation.

"If you put yourself in the shoes of an IT manager, the last thing they want to do is create a negative impact on their live environment. This facility has the potential to save them that trouble," GlobalConnect managing director, Pushka Taneja, said. "We are not only connecting the equipment but also checking it from the telephony network environment as well to ensure it all works the way it should."

The multi-story facility, situated in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde, would not only allow GlobalConnect clients to duplicate and push proposed IP telephony solutions to the limit in controlled and customised environments, but would also act as a breeding ground for the integrator's new application suites and solutions, Taneja said.

"We are trying to provide faster and smoother implementations at customer sites," he said. "We've already had a number of customers come through with tight project deadlines and they have been impressed with how the facility helped them."

The staging lab will be managed by GlobalConnect Australia's convergence manager, Glen Elton, and a team of pre- and post-sales engineers.

Taneja said the planning of similar facilities in other cities would depend on business growth outside of Sydney.
