Ericsson will conduct Australia's first ever live demonstration of a VDSL2 solution supporting the industry's fastest copper technology.
Ericsson will also demonstrate Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON) for (FTTN) Fibre to the Node and Fibre to the Home (FTTH) networks.
The triple-play demonstrations of high definition television, high-speed Internet and telephony will utilize speeds of up to 100Mbps.
The company's group product manager, Colin Goodwin, said the demonstrations, to be held in Melbourne, will be shown to key Ericsson customers, analysts and media from April 30 to May 3, 2007.
"We are very excited to bring the demonstration kit to Australia; it was a key part of our stands at Barcelona earlier this year at the 3GSM World Congress and the FTTH Europe Conference," Goodwin said.
"GPON and VDSL2 technologies form the basis of Ericsson bids around the world for FTTN and FTTH networks."
Regarding opportunities in Australia, Colin said FTTN and FTTH is generating headlines.
"By showing the technology in use we hope to better inform this discussion, and also show operators what can really be delivered today," he said.
