IT administrators have their hands full today

 • 13 April, 2007 09:55

“With five of the bulletins released this month being critical, all of which allow remote access execution and with the addition of out-of-cycle patch, IT administrators have their hands full today.

“Microsoft is making progress on addressing vulnerabilities in its legacy applications with MS07-019 and MS07-020 fixing XP/2000 software defects. However, the MS07-017 and MS07-021 patches show that there continues to be problems with Vista.

“Organisations need to take notice that although Vista is more secure, it is certainly not immune from vulnerabilities. PatchLink recommends that organisations prioritise deploying the Vista-related, MS07-017 and MS07-021, patches ASAP.

“Since all five critical patches are for remote code execution, which is oftentimes a vehicle for botnets and other targeted attacks, it is essential that organisations remediate these vulnerabilities quickly.”
