Information security outfit, CQR Consulting, has established a Victorian presence after experiencing strong demand for its services.
Managing director, David Simpson, said it had been flying staff down from Sydney and Adelaide to try to fulfil the workload.
"We like to be timely and responsive. There was quite a delay with getting people on the ground and face-to-face with clients, which is why we decided to locate there," he said. "We spend a fair bit of time travelling and it is something that we are trying to reduce by getting the right people in the right geographic areas."
The Victorian office will be headed up by Mark Jones, who joins as the company's business assurance leader. He previously worked for GE Money and Wizard.
Simpson said there was a lot of growth potential in the Victorian market as businesses increasingly recognised the value in the information they maintain.
CQR also has offices in Adelaide, Sydney and the UK. Once it had settled in Victoria, Simpson said it would look at expanding into other potential markets such as Brisbane and New Zealand. The company currently has 23 staff.
He is looking for more consultants to fill the Victorian office.
"We are looking for people that fill both ends of the spectrum, that are technical but can also understand business speak," he said. "There are not enough training programs out there and finding the right people is very critical, so we are willing to wait till they come along."
