Western Digital My Book Pro Edition II

The newest external storage system in the My Book range is capable of securing up to 1TB of digital storage content. It uses RAID technology to instantaneously duplicate user data for extra protection or to accelerate the delivery of data to users. Users can also reserve half of the system's storage capacity to mirror their data in real-time using RAID. When data is saved to the My Book Pro Edition II system, two copies are recorded on separate internal hard drives. In the unlikely event that one of the hard drives inside fails, the other hard drive will continue to read and write data until the faulty hard drive is replaced and rebuilt to mirror the data. The performance of the device provides users with an advantage for advanced applications such as editing multiple streams of video without dropping frames. It is designed for small-office environments where large amounts of content are managed. The new system features advanced backup software and three interfaces: FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. Consuming less than 26 square inches of desk space, My Book Pro Edition II has a smaller footprint than other systems in its class. Users can open the enclosure to replace one or both of the hard drives by following the detailed instructions, without voiding the system's three-year warranty. The My Book Pro Edition II comes with EMC Retrospect Express version 7.5 backup and system recovery software with a customised setup wizard to deliver easy-to-use, data protection capabilities. The feature-packed software provides users with the tools needed to backup and restore a single file or an entire system in a few steps. An attractive feature for Mac users is the ability to use the FireWire interface for bootable disaster recovery. Along with the backup and system recovery software and the RAID 1 mirroring function, it comes built-in with Data Lifeguard technology that automatically finds, isolates and repairs internal drive problems.
