Region4 has struck up a new distributor relationship with Teac America for its range of disc publishing products. Director, Timmi Hingston, said the range would replace some of the Rimage products.
"We feel Teac has the same vision we do for the future and an understanding of the local market. They're a better fit for us," she said. "While their product line is not exactly the same as Rimage, it will replace it to some extent and open up more opportunities in new markets. The feature sets are very similar but the price point is much lower."
Hingston hoped the Teac range would attract more resellers.
"Some resellers were not selling Rimage because it was too expensive and you had to be qualified to sell it, whereas the Teac products will be available to all our resellers," she said.
Markets Region4 plans to target with Teac include computer forensics, audio and video production, kiosk applications, and medical imaging, archiving and software development.
