NewsGator Technologies Wednesday signed an agreement to resell /n Software's Real Simple Syndication feed-generation engine, which will allow its business users to access content from databases, business applications and spreadsheets via an RSS feed.
Under the agreement, NewsGator will begin shipping the /n Software RSSBus Feed Server under its own brand during the second quarter. Pricing will be announced at that time.
Bundling the /n Software engine with NewsGator's Enterprise Server will allow corporate users to convert data from Oracle, Microsoft and MySQL databases and business applications into RSS feeds. The feeds can be accessed via the Web, portals, e-mail clients, desktop applications or mobile devices, NewsGator said.
NewsGator is targeting companies whose executives depend on receiving real-time updates of changes to databases, spreadsheets or business intelligence systems, the company said.
Dave Keller, general manager of enterprise solutions at NewsGator, said the agreement shows that RSS tools are becoming key corporate collaboration technologies.
"The combination of NewsGator Enterprise Server and the RSSBus Feed Server makes it easy for companies to combine modern enterprise 2.0 tools with traditional business applications to improve business efficiency and facilitate better information distribution," he said.
