ASG Group has secured a multi-million dollar deal with the Victorian Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) to supply IT support and management services.
Southern region general manager, Rob Bild, said it was a fairly competitive process. The deal complemented its other managed services clients, including Alinta, Qantas and Ericsson.
"I understand they had somewhere in the vicinity of seven organisations that submitted proposals for the business over a period of about five months. I know that there are a number of our competitors that would have bid for the business like Volante, Commander, Fujitsu and HP," he said. "Particularly in the southern region, we continue to grow the operation and the staff within it."
Under the five-year deal, ASG will provide support services for the client's 1000 staff within its service desk, desktop, network and server environments. ETS Communications previously supplied services to MAS. Bild said as a result of securing the business, it brought on-board the majority of ETS staff.
"The message we are sending is that this further strengthens and validates our position as an infrastructure managed service provider," he said. "We are offering customers a real alternative to the multinationals."
