Just a day after being crowned Australian champion, John Senden was giving an exhibition of his golfing skills to BenQ partners at NSW Golf Club.
The Queenslander, who had already tasted victory on the US tour this year, shot a course record 65 at Royal Sydney on the final day of the national championship to win by a shot.
A handful of players still had a chance going into the final few holes including US Open champion, Geoff Ogilvy, and world number four, Adam Scott. But it was Senden who found something extra, hitting outstanding approach shots at the final two holes and birdying both.
Less than 24 hours later, he was walking the fairways with Bluechip Infotech managing director, Johnson Hsiung, and Optima boss, Cornel Ung. Senden spends most of his time in the US these days but is sponsored by BenQ, which had arranged the game a month ago.
"His tee shots on the short par fours were landing about 10 metres from the green and he birdied them all," Hsiung said. "It was just amazing!"
