Allcom Networks has become one of two local companies to gain dual Cisco Advanced Unified Communications Specialisation and Advanced Security accreditation.
Director of emerging technology, Andrew Leigh, said the Sydney-based networking integrator had invested about $100,000 to gain its Advanced Cisco status. Alphawest also retains both certifications.
"One of the reasons we specialised in this is because we have a strong business face in unified communications and an emerging security practice," he said. "It's not just about training but also about having the demonstration facilities and ability to use them as well as having clearly documented processes and procedures that indicate a mature practice."
The company currently has about 12 certified Cisco staff. Leigh said it was imperative to provide unified communications with a security solution.
"Realistically to implement unified communications without security is what I consider being a poor practice. The two need to go hand-in-hand," he said.
Allcom has been partnering with the vendor for eight years. Leigh said he would continue to work with Cisco because it offered best-in-breed certifications and reference ability.
"It also shows customers that we are up-to-speed with the latest technologies," he said. "We continue to metamorphose into a significant player in the market."
