Simms International has finalised the integration of KH Distribution into its business, heralding new hires and a new state office in the process.
The component and accessories distributor will open a Perth location in the New Year, joining Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices. Former KH distribution staffer, Jason Daniel, has been selected to head up the branc.
"Jason did a brilliant job on the Apple side of business and was instrumental in launching KH in Victoria so we've now got him heading up WA," Simms managing director, Danny Moore, said.
Moore also welcomed ex-Lexmark staffer, Steve Dotter, to the role of national supply chain manager.
"Moving to four warehouses nationally, we'll be looking at warehousing logistics and customers' general procurement requirements," he said. "So to pull these multiple locations together we've brought in someone senior who understands the complexities of an electronic supply chain."
The combined business will operate under the Simms International brand from January 1.
Moore said the integration of the two businesses was relatively pain-free. Only one warehouse was consolidated between the two, with KH's Auburn location folding into Simms' St Leonards locale.
Two administration staff were lost as a result of bringing the two companies together, he said.
Moore forecast that 2007 would be a strong year for the enlarged business.
"We always said this would take around six months and weren't in a hurry, but we started getting pressure from customers wanting access to both product sets under one umbrella," he said. "It's been brilliant the way everybody's committed to the cause. From 1 January, you'll be seeing a much stronger organisation with 50 very motivated staff across the country."
