Galas Electronics has launched its own digital home entertainment brand called OmniGo.
Products include a 7-inch portable DVD player, with built-in gaming and USB connectivity, and a 30GB digital media player that includes a wireless car kit.
General manager, Peter Hsie, said the range currently consists of 10 products. He hoped to double that number by Q1 next year. The OmniGo brand will be split into four categories - portable, set-top box, LCD TVs with digital tuners and TVR personal video recorders.
All products are backed with a 12-month replacement warranty. Hsie said they would be aimed at early adopters of new technology.
"The products mostly suit users that are on the go and those who like to be entertained," he said. "We are still using the Omni brand for our traditional IT products, TVs and DVDs."
Hsie has established deals with retailers such as the Good Guys and Bing Lee. He is also negotiating with other retailers.
Partners are offered training, point-of-sale tools and display products.
