Projector vendor, InFocus, has boosted its local presence by appointing an A/NZ regional sales manager and opening a new office in North Sydney.
Sean Tobin joins recently appointed channel manager, Patt Mosley, and service manager, Duke Mosley, in the new office space. Tobin said Australia had become a key market in the vendor's strategy and gaining market share in the education space was a particular goal.
"I've spent my first month in the role reviewing the channel," he said. "We've got great partners doing the job required and will leverage off our three programs - Learn Big, Work Big and Play Big."
Learn Big, for example, targets the education market and gives resellers a three-year warranty on hardware when selling to education institutions. Normally, the warranty on the hardware is two years. The home theatre market was covered by Play Big, while corporate installations were covered by Work Big.
Tobin said education would likely prove the most lucrative market for IT resellers this year.
"With all of the interactive multimedia used in classrooms today, projectors are becoming more popular," he said. "Queensland, in particular, is using a lot of technology in the classroom."
Tobin also said the significant fall in the price of XGA-based hardware, which was now comparable to lower resolution SVGA-based hardware, was creating an opportunity for new sales and upgrades.
