Logitech diNovo Edge

Embedded with TouchDisc touch-sensitive dial, the vendor claims this is one of the first keyboards with built-in navigation features compatible with the Microsoft Vista operating system. It is also Logitech's first rechargeable keyboard. Measuring 7.62mm thick, the keyboard has a high-gloss finish, laser cut from a single, semi-translucent piece of black Plexiglas and set into a brushed-aluminum frame. The orange backlit, touch-sensitive controls are fl ush with the keyboard surface. The backlit icons are invisible when not illuminated and offer one-touch navigation for Windows Vista, XP and XP Media Centre. Pressing the function key lights up icons for secondary functions, including media controls and application-launch keys. There is also one-touch access to Vista's new search feature. When the function key is released, the icons disappear and the keyboard's top panel returns to its black state. TouchDisc technology unifies scrolling, selection and cursor control without having to reach for a mouse, while a pointer button, used with the TouchDisc, enables two-hand navigation. For multimedia users there's a touch-sensitive volume slider and three zoom buttons - zoom in, zoom out, and 100 per cent view - to facilitate the navigation and editing of digital photos. The PerfectStroke system ensures fl uid and stable keystrokes wherever users strike the key. Users can put the keyboard on display while it is charging via its slim stand. This provides a two-hour charge and yields up to two months of battery life. The keyboard connects to PCs via Bluetooth by plugging the pre-configured micro-receiver into the USB port. Bluetooth offers up to 10 metres coverage which provides a longer range than many cordless keyboards, Logitech claims. The diNovo Edge comes packaged with a charging base, AC power cord, USB mini-receiver, as well as installation software including Logitech SetPoint version 3.10, guidelines and help centre. It is supported by a three-year warranty.

Linksys Wireless-N WUSB300N

This wireless USB network adapter is based on the 802.11n draft specification. By overlaying multiple radio signals, the multiple-in, multiple-out technology creates a robust signal, allowing wireless connections up to four times further than standard Wireless-G. It also helps to reduce dead spots. The WUSB300N works with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased by using twice as much radio band. This yields speeds up to 12 times faster than standard Wireless-G. The wireless connections are protected by industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. The speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and VoIP.
Distributed by Express Data, Ingram Micro, LAN Systems and Multimedia Technology.
