Traffic management vendor, Packeteer, will introduce a deal registration system as part of its revamped local channel program from January 1.
Country manager, Bede Hackney, said the NPR (Named Project Registration) program enabled resellers to protect business opportunities from other Packeteer resellers for six months at a time. Registration will be available via the vendor's partner website.
"In introducing the new program, we're formalising the current structure to better reward the level of investment our partners make in us," he said. "The centrepiece of this will be the NPR program which will protect any opportunities they register with us."
Hackney said the new program would still be based on the vendor's current two-tiered model of Authorised and Solutions partners.
Packeteer has 10 solutions partners, and about 30 authorised resellers. At the top tier, Solutions partners were chosen on a number of metrics, including number of trained engineers, seminars attended and the level of business it engages in.
"The changes to the program are really about showing a commitment to our current partners and engaging with them closely and protecting their investments," Hackney said. "It's a competitive market out there."
The vendor was also looking to appoint a dedicated channel manager next year, he said.
