Avnet is bringing its Partner Solutions and Computing Components divisions under the one Technology Solutions banner.
Marketing director, Michael Costigan, said the re-branding would bring the two organisations closer together. The Australian company is the first Avnet branch worldwide to combine the two.
"It will give the divisions the chance to provide value-add solutions to both sets of business partners," he said. "In the past, partners that dealt with the Partner Solutions side had access to HP, Oracle, CommVault, etc. Now they will also have access to Intermec, AMD, Kingston, Asus and vice versa."
To coincide with the new branding, the distributor has re-launched its website. Several new features have been added to its Channel Connection portal, enabling partners to check their stock on-hand, access its smart tracker tool for marketing services, monitor renewals online and update leads in real-time. Avnet has also updated its Integration Centre to allow partners to do complex solution builds using hardware, middleware and software.
Costigan said its main focus for 2007 was to push the unified brand into the market and strengthen its geographic coverage.
Avnet recently recruited two state managers, Chris Arter in WA and Jodie Gosel in Queensland.
The Queensland branch will be operational in January.
"In Queensland we are seeing a lot of demand for industry standard servers and storage, whereas in WA its Unix-based solutions," Costigan said. "There is a high concentration of business partners that are driving that demand and we want to work with them at a local level."
