Trend Micro has recruited Sun's former partner director, Michael May, as its new enterprise sales director. He replaces Damien Thompson, who has joined mobile payment provider, Mobipay.
May joined Sun in 1996. He was made redundant last August as part of a global cost-cutting exercise.
"Since that time I have had a good look at the market place and I quite liked the software space," he said. "I was approached to go for a role at Trend."
May said he was keen to grow the business, particularly in the enterprise space, and outlined corporate security as a potential opportunity.
"Trend is particularly well positioned to address that with the technologies it has in place," he said.
May said he was also keen to improve the vendor's engagement with the channel and expand its client base.
"I will also look to put some processes in place to assist the development of the channel from a training perspective and get them engaged in our sales processes," he said. "We want to implement the appropriate marketing programs that allow us to drive demand through the channel and for them to reciprocate and drive incremental revenues for us as well.
"I am looking forward to getting involved and we are looking for significant success going forward."
