ASX-listed integrator, SMS Management and Technology, has acquired consulting firm, Operational Concepts, for an undisclosed sum.
The Melbourne company's CEO, Tom Stianos, said it had come across Operational on various client engagements and thought it would be a complementary fit to its skills set.
"Even though it is broadly in the same space as SMS, it does have specialisations in a few areas including logistics, systems engineering and IT telephony services," he said. "Its managing director, Jeff Dusting, will be based in Sydney and that is one area we plan to grow and contribute more of our services to."
Stianos said Operational Concepts offered exposure to clients it had not previously dealt with such as Alcatel, PBL, Halifax and American Express. It was currently working on more business opportunities within the financial services and infrastructure sectors.
Operational Concepts also brought several new skills to the table, including business improvement services, outsourcing skills and business management. The consultancy firm has offices in Melbourne and Sydney. Both will be brought under the SMS banner, along with all of its 22 employees.
Stianos said he was looking to recruit an extra 80 staff in the next six months to beef up its service management, IT and consulting offerings. He also flagged more acquisitions to enhance SMS' solutions and skill set.
"We are in discussions with three other potential companies that we hope to acquire," Stianos said.
