The networking revolution will be televised thanks to the launch of D-LinkTV, a Web-based video portal designed to educate consumers, business customers and resellers on all things networking.
The video portal comes off the back of a successful US-led launch that has seen an increase in traffic to the vendor's sites and customer interest, D-Link marketing director, Maurice Famularo, said.
"The fundamental idea behind it [D-LinkTV] is to educate our customers and channel partners," he said. "We'll feature straight-to-the-point discussions and hopefully our partners will see it as a source of some valuable information pertinent to our products."
At present, D-LinkTV is split into four categories: Home and Home Office, Business Solutions, Reseller and Partner Solutions and Other/Miscellaneous. Although all content is currently sourced from the US, Famularo expects local staff to provide and produce local content by the end of June.
"Right now we're testing the waters to see what kind of reaction we get and to gauge interest in the concept," he said. "We will definitely be producing local content for D-LinkTV and are very excited with the new possibilities it will give us to reach our customers."
Famularo said he and his staff already had a number of ideas in the pipeline to create channel-specific content including local case studies, sales training, and even the possibility of partnering with a non-competing vendor to demonstrate networking solutions (such as VoIP) to new sales reps and customers.
