Business Objects combines programs

Business Intelligence (BI) vendor, Business Objects, has launched a new global partner program. It combines aspects of two existing programs and offers partners increased training and streamlined access to a variety of sales, marketing and resources through extranet and learning management systems. “These enhanced training offerings enable partners to improve their business and technical skills, and deliver additional value to joint customers,” Business Objects A/NZ channel manager, Rhody Burton, said. “We ask our partners what areas they would like to see developed in terms of training and we respond to that. So far Web-training has been very well received and we are looking to expand that. “We are, however, looking for quality partners to sign up with. We don’t see quantity as a measure of success.”

Amery promoted again at Symantec

Michelle Amery has been appointed vice-president for Asia-Pacific at Symantec. Based in Hong Kong, Amery will be responsible for the sales, marketing and operations of the company across the region. Explaining her appointment, vice-president for Japan and Asia-Pacific, Vincent Steckler, said the region continued to grow at a tremendous rate and take on increased importance for the company’s global business. Prior to stepping into the new role, Amery was vice-president of global sales, planning and operations. Based in the US, Amery was responsible for the company’s strategy, planning and sales channels infrastructure. Amery has also held a number of senior positions in Asia-Pacific including general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
