Toshiba to sponsor Rugby World Cup 2007

<p>Following the announcement by the Toshiba Corporation that it will be an ‘Official Sponsor’ of the Rugby World Cup 2007, Toshiba (Australia) Information Systems Division (ISD) proudly announce its local contribution to the sponsorship.</p>
<p>As an Official Sponsor, Toshiba will supply the tournament with a range of electrical products including audio visual equipment, air conditioning systems and cell phones.</p>
<p>Toshiba Information Systems Division decided to additionally contribute to the Official Sponsorship because of the love Australians and New Zealanders have for the sport.</p>
<p>The sponsorship comes at an auspicious time for Toshiba Australia, who this year will align the distribution of its consumer electronics products, such as televisions, DVD and video products, with its mobile computing business. From 1 April 2007, Toshiba Information Systems Division (ISD) will take over the distribution of these products from Castel Electronics Pty. Ltd.</p>
<p>Mark Whittard, general manager, Toshiba Information Systems Division said: “Is fair to say that we are over-the-moon about this sponsorship. It will help us drive into the audio-visual marketplace and build a roadmap for the launch of significant new products. Trends like the transition to widescreen viewing are significantly accelerated with prestigious world sporting events such as this one.”</p>
<p>“And considering how much Aussies and Kiwis love rugby and a good competition, we had to be involved. Go Aussie go!”</p>
<p>Rugby World Cup 2007 will take place from 7th September to 20th October. The majority of the 48 matches will be played in France whilst a few will be held in stadiums in Wales and Scotland.</p>

<p>- Consumer electronic products: televisions, DVD and video products (excluding DVD discs and/or video tapes), photocopiers, digital copiers (including multi-function printers), fax machines, mobile telephone handset devices</p>
<p>- Air conditioning systems and equipment</p>
<p>- This is a joint sponsorship of Toshiba group companies.</p>
<p>- The Rugby World Cup has become a major world event for the sport since its creation in 1987, and the 48 matches are expected to attract more than two million spectators and three billion TV viewers.</p>
