IT veteran and former COO of the Volante Group, Hugh Bickerstaff, has been recruited by LogicaCMG as its managing director of business solutions.
Bickerstaff left Volante in June 2005, after spending about 13 years developing and growing the company from eight to 850 staff.
"I took some time off when I left Volante and I thought very carefully about what I wanted my next opportunity to look like and be about," Bickerstaff said. "I wanted to join a company that had an appetite for growth and a strong base to work from to achieve that and become one of the top five players in the Australian IT services market."
In the newly created role, Bickerstaff will establish a practice-led model focusing on business solutions service delivery. This will be divided into five key areas: security, information management, asset and mobility management, billing and trading systems and systems integration.
"We will be focusing on taking those five key practices into five key industry segments: energy and utilities, public sector, financial services, industry distribution and transport, and telco," he said.
Bickerstaff will be charged with order and revenue generation, profitability and quality of service delivery.
"I will also look at strengthening our presales consulting areas to make sure that propositions we are focusing on provide a very strong win capability," he said. "I'll be working closely with our sales and marketing director, Guy Barnes, and together we should make quite a difference to the growth of the organisation."
