Melbourne-based Maxxam has claimed the first Australian certification for the recently released ISO/IEC 20000 IT service management international standard.
The systems integrator is no stranger to achieving early certifications, taking out the first local BS15000/AS8018 qualification for IT Service Management in July last year.
"We've kept our ear to the ground ever since BS15000 came out," Maxxam managing director, Brad Krauskopf, said. "It's always been our intention to upgrade and as soon as the ISO 20000 documentation was released, we were reviewing it."
ISO/IEC 20000 is based on BS15000/AS8018, which gave Maxxam a head-start in the audit carried out by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance in the UK to receive the new certificate.
Krauskopf said gaining certifications as soon as they were released was a key way of demonstrating the abilities of the business to customers.
Standards Australia is currently working to adopt ISO/IEC 20000 and has created a working group of IT professionals to review the standard.
