Melbourne-based integrator, S Central, has purchased a majority stake in A/ NZ-based library systems provider, DA Library Technologies.
Under the new deal, DA will operate as a subsidiary of S Central under its own brand. Managing director, Peter Mavridis, said the business would be manned by eight staff.
The two companies shared local councils as a key customer base. Joining forces would give S Central the ability to expand into large IT projects for local council-run libraries. "Local council is one of our core markets. But to be really entrenched in the library space, we need to understand the operational side," Mavridis said.
DA has built up a strong heritage providing integrated book systems, RFID technology, search engines, booking resources and traffic monitoring tools.
Most of its vendor relationships were also exclusive, giving S Central a unique mix of products and services, Mavridis said.
"We have traditionally focused on core IT infrastructure, not applications. We will now be able to go to market with a combined offering," he said.
"As integrators, we have to look at different ways of getting into different industries. Libraries have traditionally been a difficult market to break into. This is another way in: DA does library management, and we can manage the rest of the network."
