In line with its push to deepen channel relations, hosted VoIP wholesaler, ValueNet, has appointed David Knox and John Watson in the newly created roles of senior channel manager and senior sales engineer.
Knox will be responsible for developing new partners in the mid to large customer segment. He will also undertake channel acquisition, development, support and opportunity identification and business relations. His resume includes stints at Downer Engineering, MCI (Verizon) and Enterasys Networks.
"I'm excited about introducing hosted IP telephony into larger enterprises as it has been so well received in the small to medium market," Knox said. "I was particularly drawn to ValueNet because I can see how hosted services are a real challenge to the larger box suppliers such as Avaya and Cisco. My challenge is to get a number of IP PBX system integrators converted to the hosted telephony model over the next few months."
ValueNet CEO, Brad Dolphin, said Knox was chosen for his experience within the industry and with large channel partners, as well as his success at winning large corporate sales and his understanding of the technology.
Watson, formerly the national manager of technical services at Gap Telecoms, will take on a similar role supporting Victorian-based partners. Previously, he spent 17 years at Telstra in various roles including communications consultant, business development manager, project director and product development manager.
Dolphin said the positions were created to cater to larger channel partners who required a higher level of commercial engagement and product integration within their business.
"This will enable ValueNet to extend its business grade services beyond medium size end customers to the 300+ seat market," he said.
