Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) vendor, Reflex Security, is in the process of building its local channel operations after launching in Australia and New Zealand this month.
The US-based company's first move has been to sign up Colin Lim as sales director. Lim comes to the company from security vendor, Fortinet, where he was its regional sales manager.
Reflex Security started operations about six years ago. It sells a mixture of software and hardware-based IPS products. It also offers a virtual security appliance for prevention within virtualised computing environments.
Lim said the company would operate a two-tier channel structure.
"Right now we are in conversations with a couple of disties with the aim of signing one this quarter," he said. "We are also in VAR recruitment mode."
He said VARs would be tagged as either Premier or Standard. Premier partners would most likely target large organisations, and receive rebates and lead generation. Standard partners would most likely be niche security players or VMware partners.
While aiming for about 15 partners, Lim said the total number would be determined by market demand.
