George Atrash, General Manager, Connectivity

In his new role, one of George’s key challenges will be to the meet growing market demand for unified communications and collaboration solutions. George will also play a large role in the ongoing development of solutions and services to fit Dimension Data’s go-to-market strategy, as well as managing Dimension Data’s relationship with networking vendor Cisco.

George reports to Dave D’Aprano, Dimension Data’s National Solutions and Services Director.

George comes to Dimension Data with a distinguished record in sales, management and entrepreneurial experience in the IT over the last 20 years.

He joined Dimension Data’s Australian organisation in January 2007 as National Cisco Alliance Manager. Before relocating to Australia this year from South Africa, he served as Regional Channel Director at Cisco, responsible for South Africa and African regions. In 2005, George joined Microsoft’s Enterprise Partners Group, responsible for African regions outside of South Africa.

“We feel that George is perfectly suited to the role, as he has previously held senior executive positions at both Cisco and Microsoft, being Regional Director of Channels for Cisco for six years in South Africa, and also Director of Channels at Microsoft in South Africa,” Mr D’Aprano said.

George started his career as a field engineer with Telkom, South Africa’s dominant telecommunications carrier.

For George, the opportunity to move to Australia was a chance for career development and growth, and to raise his family in Australia. He has a keen interest in personal coaching and motivational speaking.

He holds a National Diploma in Electronics from Telkom and a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).

Martin Schlatter, National Managed Security Services Product Manager

Based in Melbourne, Martin is responsible for the national development and execution of the strategic business plan for Dimension Data’s Managed Security Services (MSS) product portfolio in Australia. He will lay down a growth strategy for the MSS business locally, which has a strong annuity base of security services.

Martin will report to Darren O’Loughlin, General Manager, Security.

Dimension Data’s Managed Security Services business comprises of managed security technologies and services, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, as well as on-site security maintenance services, and risk management and governance consulting.

Martin was previously Dimension Data’s Global Security Managed Services Product Manager, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. In that role he had global responsibility for Dimension Data’s Managed Security Services product portfolio.

Martin has been in the IT industry for 14 years and in security for the past nine years. He first joined Dimension Data’s South African business in 1996 as a Network Management Engineer, then left Dimension Data in 1999 to work as a consultant in Europe, before rejoining Dimension Data in 2001 as a Security Engineer. Martin’s career also includes a number of years specialising in consulting, operations management, pre-sales and technical architecture positions at other large corporations, including Faritec, Rainfinity, Merrill Lynch Europe, Accenture, Standard Bank of South Africa and IBM.

As Dimension Data’s former Global Product Manager for Security Services in South Africa, Martin also brings strong vendor relations experience.

“Martin is the ideal candidate with the breadth and depth of experience to maintain and grow our managed security business,” said Mr O’Loughlin.

“Having worked for a very large global security services firm like Dimension Data, and with not too many global providers of that scale in Australia, Martin’s skillset is a rare one to find locally.”

For Martin, the motivation to relocate from Johannesburg to Australia to take up a country-focused role came down to his career in security services moving into a more mature stage, and secondly, for the lifestyle attraction of the outdoors and sports culture of Australia.

Martin holds a number of Check Point and ITIL certifications.
