Analysts: IT managers need to benchmark IT performance

Having won a sizeable slice of the Northern Territory Government's IT pie, assembler and peripherals distributor Hallmark International recently opened a new facility in Darwin to service its increased Top End business.

With 850 square metres of floor space on three levels, Hallmark's new site was opened in gala celebration by the member for Millner, Matthew Bronson. Also in attendance were many customers and resellers as well as national general manager Edward Ho, Victorian general manager Robert Cornick, and Northtern Territory general manager Darren Ridings.

Hallmark has been assembling in Darwin for six years but needed to expand quickly after winning a hardware sub-contract under the CSC consortium supplying the Northern Territory Government.

Hallmark invested $85,000 in relocating and fitting out the new facility, which has a capacity to produce 100 PCs per week with current resources and staff levels. The company now employs 15 people in Darwin and is looking to bring on three more, according to Riddings.

Riddings said Hallmark's Northern Territory business is going "very well" at the moment and apart from the government contract there is "plenty of business from local resellers".

"We just had a record month with turnover breaking $1 million [in NT] for the first time in February, and we're now looking to ramp up the facility even further with extra staff."
