iPod and MP3 accessory vendor, Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO), has parted company with distributor, Powermove, and signed on with new local entrant, iWorld Australia.
iWorld Australia managing director, Chad DeClase, said it was excited to be bringing on the DLO kit as it complemented iWorld's own range of hardware accessories for both Mac and PC platforms.
"We'd been talking to DLO for quite some time about bringing the products into Australia, New Zealand and Fiji as we have ties with them over in Singapore," he said. "They felt the product hadn't been done justice with its former distribution here."
Powermove owner, Phil Warren, downplayed losing the DLO business. He claimed the range had been too small for the distributor to work with and hadn't captured any substantial consumer interest.
"We were doing such small numbers with them and it had such a small product range, it was basically in both our interests to part ways," Warren said. "It's a second tier sort of range and it just didn't perform. I say 'good luck' to them."
iWorld started trading 20 years ago in Singapore, before spreading out into Europe and Asia. It has more recently opened up shop in the A/NZ marketplace. DLO is its first announced local distribution win.
