Acer proved it had channel in its blood when a select band of local partners flew into Taipei at the end of last month to help celebrate its 30th birthday. Highlights of the trip included a round of golf at the Miramar Country Golf Club, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus, and a visit to the famous Snake Alley, where locals claim a glass of snake blood will increase your virility. Nobody in the Acer party was game enough to put that theory to the test. The following day saw guests drinking champagne on the 89th floor of the world's tallest building, Taipei 101. This gave an incredible panoramic view of Taipei and its surrounding areas from 390m. In the evening, Acer threw an extravagant banquet with company founder, Stan Shih, and Taipei Mayor, Ma Jing-jeou as guests of honour.
