Sydney, Australia – February 6, 2007 – Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS), has appointed three new employees to its Australian operation to support local growth. Sue Stokes has come on board as Regional Sales Manager, Australia/New Zealand, while Matt Berry and Tara Martin have joined the team as Technical Consultant and Inside Sales Representative respectively.

In her new role, Ms Stokes will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Riverbed’s customers and resellers, and expanding the business through the partner community. Ms Stokes has almost 20 years’ experience in the industry, having held similar roles at Oracle, IBM and Check Point. Most recently, she was Channel/Enterprise Account Manager at Juniper Networks (following the company’s takeover of NetScreen International) where she developed key relationships with ASX 100 companies such as Telstra, NAB and St George.

“WDS technology is one of the most exciting areas of IT to be involved with today, and Riverbed’s offering is state-of-the-art,” says Ms Stokes. “I’m privileged to be joining an exceptionally talented team which has already had great success in Australia, and I look forward to making a significant contribution to the continued growth of the business.”

As one of Riverbed’s Technical Consultants, Mr Berry will be responsible for pre- and post-sales technical support and ensuring customers’ technical requirements are met. He will also assist resellers with implementations, trials and troubleshooting. Mr Berry has previously worked in a variety of technical roles at Data#3, British Telecom and AT&T.

In her role as Inside Sales Representative, Ms Martin will manage lead generation, product quotations, order processing and delivery, information distribution and communication for partners and customers. Before joining Riverbed, Ms Martin worked for companies including Verizon and Telstra where she held customer and sales support roles.

“I am delighted with the extremely high calibre and experience of our latest team members. Their appointments reflect the significant market share the Australian operation has won since opening in August 2005 with nearly 700 per cent growth achieved through 2006,” says Steve Dixon, Managing Director, Australia/New Zealand, Riverbed. “With the high number of distributed workforces in Australia and New Zealand, there is incredible demand for this technology locally and our client base has been steadily growing. I’m confident the new team will continue to build on our already strong market presence.”

Mirroring the growth in Australia, Riverbed has also appointed a new Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Thomas Chin will be responsible for driving Riverbed’s APJ business, including customer growth, sales strategy and partner acquisition. Chin has more than twenty years’ experience in building new and emerging markets for companies including Network Appliance and Adaptec.

Riverbed’s Steelhead® appliance is the only WDS product on the market that solves all the key problems with application performance on wide area networks (WANs). These problems have been or are currently experienced by virtually every multi-site company in the world. Steelhead appliances deliver the industry’s best network compression, optimise the behaviour of TCP, and add application-specific optimisations to minimise the effect of high latency on common enterprise applications.
